OnTrackCA is a partnership of California school districts, other LEAs, and organizations committed to helping kids stay in school and on track to graduation. The first and foremost problem is reducing our drop out rate. You can't graduate if you aren't in school. Our idea is to build a grass root network of concerned organizations who want to share their ideas but mostly who are committed to taking action. We're awash in a sea of data. It's time to do something.
OnTrackCA was founded in the fall of 2011 thanks to the vision of Elk Grove Unified School District and Greg Lindner, the district's IT Director. Lindner secured a $1MM grant to found this initiative, primarily to build the core service, an online social dashboard system, but also to provide seed funding to grow the initiative statewide. To complete this work, Elk Grove contracted with School Loop, Inc., a California-based education technology firm, who in turn partnered with FCMAT/CSIS, a California-based organization specializing in data integration between districts and the California Department of Education.
The partnership is seeking another 10 districts to join as the initial set of partners. This effort is being led by FCMAT/CSIS.
