About OnTrackCA

OnTrackCA is envisioned as a partnership among CA districts concerned that all students graduate and that none drop out.  The core service of OnTrackCA is a free online software application.  This free service is a data-driven social dashboard system designed to help schools identify at-risk students and to increase the effectiveness of the interventions designed to support them.

How it works

The free software system will make it easy for people to provide the right supports to the right students at the right time, all in one system, across the entire organization.  First, using a simple data format, you import information on indicators aligned to key objectives.  Second, you align your existing supports to those objectives and indicators.  Third, you create watch lists to help your team’s focus on particular students or groups of students.  Fourth, you give those teams the tools to do what they already do, but do so in an online social environment.  The team will be more effective, more efficient, and it’s actually fun.  Finally, you assess the results of those actions and scale what works.

Organization

Elk Grove Unified School District is the founding partner of OnTrackCA.   Through a $1MM EETT ARRA Competitive Grant, Elk Grove is funding the development of the software service and the scaling of the organization statewide.  CSIS will lead the statewide implementation, and School Loop will develop and host the software system.  The partnership is looking for a set of co-founding districts, and is also building advisory groups to inform a set of decisions on indicators, data integration, and other critical operating areas.

Timetable

We launched v1.0 at the start of school, 2012, and over the course of five years, plan to bring 1000 districts into the partnership.  The system is currently in BETA in Elk Grove, and ready to take on other implementations.  Over the course of fall semester 2012, the goal is to have 10 district partners up and operational.

Call for Districts
